Why it was refused
Reason
As stated on the decision notice
1
REASON: The proposed front dormer extension, by virtue of its siting, design, size and width would
form an incongruous, overly dominant, and unsympathetic addition to the terrace. As a result, the
proposal would fail to make a positive contribution to the local character and distinctiveness of the
area. The proposed development would therefore be contrary to the National Planning Policy
Framework (2024), Policy D4 of the London Plan (2021), and Policy PLAN1 of the Islington's
Strategic and Development Management Policies (2023) and the guidance contained within the
Islington Urban Design Guide (2017).
Certified that this document contains a true record of a decision of the Council.
