Why it was refused
Reason
As stated on the decision notice
1
By virtue of its massing, scale and height the proposed development would appear as an
incongruous and dominant form of development which would detract from the appearance of, and
significantly reduce the openness of the Golf Side streetscene and the wider surrounding area including the
Burton Estates Area of Special Local Character. The proposal therefore would be harmful to the site and it
its contribution to the character and appearance of the surrounding area, contrary to Policy D3 and D4 of
the London Plan, Policy 28 and 30 of the Sutton Local Plan 2018 and the Council's adopted Supplementary
Planning Document 14: Creating Locally Distinctive Places.
