Why it was refused
Reason
As stated on the decision notice
1
The proposed lanterns were not part of the original planning permission and would therefore
change the description of development. An application under Section 73 cannot be used to
change the description of the original planning permission.
2
The trellising and planting would make the people living in 13 Wilton Crescent feel too shut in.
This is because of the dense weave and height of the trellis and how close the trellis and
planters are to windows in that property. This would not meet Policies 7 and 38(C) of the City
Plan 2019 - 2040 (April 2021). (X14BD)
3
Because of its detailed design the proposed revised trellising and associated decorative
lanterns would harm the architectural and historic significance of this grade II listed building
and the setting of adjacent listed buildings at 13 and 15 Wilton Crescent. It would also fail to
maintain or improve (preserve or enhance) the character and appearance of the Belgravia
Conservation Area. This would not meet Policies 38, 39 and 40 of the City Plan 2019 - 2040
(April 2021). (X17AE)
