Why it was refused

Reason
As stated on the decision notice
1
Because of the loss of historic fabric and the historic roof form, and its location, scale and bulk, the roof extension would harm the appearance, and special architectural and historic interest (significance) of this grade II listed building. It would also fail to maintain or improve (preserve or enhance) the character and appearance of the Mayfair Conservation Area. This would not meet Policies 38, 39 and 40 of the City Plan 2019 - 2040 (April 2021), and the advice set out in our Supplementary Planning Guidance: 'Repairs and Alterations to Listed Buildings' and 'Development and Demolition in Conservation Areas' and 'Roofs. A Guide to Alterations and Extensions on Domestic Buildings'.
