Why it was refused
Reason
As stated on the decision notice
1
The proposed first floor side/rear extension by reason of its siting, design, size and bulk would
result in an unduly prominent and incongruous form of development that would detract from the
character and visual appearance of the existing property, the original mirrored design of this pair of
semi-detached houses and would result in demonstrable harm to the setting of the Hadley Wood
Conservation Area and the visual amenities of the street scene. The proposal is therefore contry to the
National Planning Policy Framework, Policies D3, D8 and HC1 of the London Plan (2021); Policy HW-1
and HW-12 of the Hadley Wood Neighbourhood Plan, Policy CP30 of the Enfield Plan Core Strategy
and Policies DMD13, DMD14, DMD37 and DMD44 of the Development Management Document (2014).
