T1 Rear Sycamore. Retain tree but manage risk. Client was advised to fell tree due to small rot pockets at historic pollard points but I advised against removing but to crown reduce height by up to 4 meters and to reduce lateral spread by up to 2 meters and remove dead/ crossing branches to risk manage but to retain a healthy tree. ( photos attached) are of the small rot pockets and various other photos showing my proposed reduction points. Tree close to various neighbours fences and shed.

Tree labelled 1 on sketch plan. Tree is a variety of pine. Permission is requested to fell the tree. The tree is located in the back garden of 39 Vallance road which is the neighbouring property to my own, 37 Vallance Road. Until recently 39 Vallance road was occupied by 2 elderly gentlemen, but both have passed away in the last year. The house is now vacant while estates is being settled. At some point in the last 18 months an application was made by the residents of 39 Vallance road to reduce the height of the tree which was approved by the council and work was undertaken. However one of the residents of 39 had a sentimental attachment to the tree and became upset and stopped the works half way through. This has left the tree looking fairly unattractive with the top portion lopped off and the remainder unshaped. Since the residents of 39 have passed myself and the other neighbour at 41 have discussed with the executors of the estate whether there would be any objection to removal of the tree and they are in agreement that it would be better for the garden to remove it as it is a large tree, poorly placed and looks unattractive.
