We would like to fell a large field maple tree in our front garden. It does not have a tree preservation order on it. It’s a field maple, but has grown much too big for our garden. We planted it in 1990 or thereabouts. The tree was cut back by professionals which was expensive, but it has grown back since then and we can’t afford to do that every year or two. The attached photos show that it is too big and too close to the house, and takes all the light in our front rooms. The neighbours have complained that it takes their light too we have been advised by our insurers and mortgage company to remove it as it’s a risk to our property and our neighbours. We are both pensioners and it is too much to maintain on our own, and the worry of it is making us very anxious. We are in a conservation area so we have to seek the councils permission before we remove the tree.
