Trees A - two pear trees trained to grow up against the left hand-side wall. Exceeding height of wall and casting shade into garden. Trim back to wall height - approximately 2m taken off topmost branches. Tree B - Olive tree - planted by myself. Now too large for relatively small garden, casts significant shade. Prune crown and topmost branches by 3m Tree C - Magnolia - limited value, casts shade, too large for small garden and exceptionally messy. Remove. Trees D - two crab apple trees thin out top crown and branches - about 1 m removal of height.

Purple Plum, approximately 7m in height Undertake remedial works to allow retention of the tree until the onset of new growth in 2022 before assessing the condition of the tree and whether it can be retained. Recommended works include (subject to confirmation with the Tree Officer): Remove deadwood >1m in length or >1cm diameter Reduce height by approximately 2m (declining branches / dieback) and the spread of the lower over-extended branches towards the neighbouring property by 1-2m. In all cases, pruning should be the minimum necessary to reduce the risk of branch failure and to an appropriate live growth point, retaining as much of the live growth as possible in the lower to mid crown Apply a composted tree mulch around the tree base (allowing a slight gap close to the stem) Monitor the soil moisture levels in the Spring and water as necessary to ensure sufficient water is available especially in hot / dry conditions during the Summer (avoid waterlogging and watering during the dormant season) Avoid any damaging gardening works within the rooting area especially within the crown spread including digging, lawn treatment (other than those which don't have the potential to affect the roots), application of weedkillers, patio cleaning using chemicals, etc. Re-inspect the tree in July 2022 to assess overall vitality and the need for any additional pruning including thinning and rebalancing if necessary
