The property is in Greenwich Westcombe Park conservation area and the dead tree/shrub does not have a Tree preservation order. There is a Mount Etna Broom (Genista aetnensis) which died over the course of the spring/summer 2024. It is in the Front Garden beside the front elevation of the house. 3 M from the pavement. It is positioned on the left of 9 Vanbrugh Hill property adjoining the hedge I shared with the neighbour, No. 7. It is about 15 feet high and the trunk diameter at 1.5 m from the ground is 25 cm. There is no sign of life at any point either at the base or higher up on the subsidiary branches. The tree is dead and I seek your approval needs to cut down and remove this Broom for safety reasons.

(T1) Cedar: crown thin by 30%, crown lift to 5m over road and remove snapped/dead branches There are concerns about potential failure or unsuitability of the tree in adverse weather conditions. This is a fairly common trait in large Cedar trees. Unfortunately, reducing the height or size of this type of tree is not recommended; it will ruin the aesthetics/form of the tree and can sometimes lead to decline of the tree in question. For this reason I have recommended thinning the canopy. This will retain the overall size and shape whilst reducing the weight on the branches and allowing wind/snow to pass through the crown more easily. I would also suggest slightly raising the bottom of the canopy to allow large vehicles to pass through the road. There are also a number of snapped/dead branches which need removing.

T1 - Sycamore - Fell to ground level and grind out stump. Tree is located directly adjacent to boundary wall and grows over neighbours garden causing excessive shading to them and the tree owners. The tree is of a low amenity, as only partially visible from the public highway and other trees in the vicinity to compensate.
